六壮士
2004 · 香港
A young Spanish artist's creative journey is filled with dreamy animated images in detailed henna paintings and atmospheric watercolours, inspired by discovering the feminist-utopian science fiction story "Sultana's Dream" in a small bookshop in India. Written in 1905 by Rokeya Hossain, this story describes the fantasy realm of Ladyland where women are self-determined and live in peace, running all government affairs and having access to all forms of education, while men are confined to their homes. Fascinated by this literary portrayal and its creator, the artist embarks on a transformative trip across contemporary India, following in the footsteps of Hossain, a pioneer of education and equal rights for Indian girls and women since the early 20th century, experiencing both the dreams of Ladyland and the stark realities of women's lives along the way.
